Welcome to the Timber Lane Elementary PTA

The Timber Lane Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an incredible group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the needs of Timber Lane teachers, staff, and students. Joining the PTA comes with absolutely no obligation to volunteer. Here's our ask of you as we begin the 2025-2026 school year:

Please join the PTA. Memberships for families are only $15, and memberships for teachers are only $10.

Consider making an additional one-time donation as a way to "pay forward" the per student costs mentioned above. This option is available as you complete your registration.

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3

There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.

Kindergarten Orientation

Orientation will take place on April 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Come meet the Kindergarten teachers and learn about Kindergarten at Timber Lane.

Comprehensive BoundarY Review Updates

At its regular on January 22, the Fairfax County School Board voted to approve boundary changes for Fairfax County Public Schools as proposed by Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Read the news story. TLES students are not impacted by these initial changes.

Looking Ahead

As shared at the end of the superintendent’s amended Comprehensive Boundary Review Executive Summary, some schools and neighborhoods will be studied further with recommendations brought forward as early as January 2027, while others may be considered during the next boundary review cycle in approximately five years. Read about the work ahead. Some of the students at TLES may be impacted by this future work.

GENERAL SCHOOL FAQs

    • What time does school start?

School doors open at 8:30am and the first bell rings at 8:40am. Classes officially begin at 8:50am. If you arrive to school after 8:50am you should plan to enter through Door 1 and sign in at the front desk.

    • What door do students who walk to school use?

All students who walk to school (grades Pre-K through 6th) should enter the school through Door 2. You can use this visual as a reference for both walkers and kiss-and-ride entry/exit points.  Remember, Pre-K students are required to be walked to Door 2 and handed off to a Pre-K staff member.

    • My student plans to buy lunch, how do I manage meal payments?

If your student needs to purchase lunch, you'll need a MySchoolBucks account. From your account you can add and manage funds for all your children, whether through a one-time payment or an auto-pay solution.

GENERAL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • If I join the PTA, do I have to volunteer my time?

Volunteering is not required! You can join and pay dues simply to support our activities. Volunteering isn't required to be a part of the PTA. And if you want to volunteer, but aren't a dues-paying PTA member, that's okay too!

  • If I join the PTA, do I have to go to PTA meetings?

Meetings are 100% optional! We love when parents join us at PTA meetings. It's a great way to learn about what's happening at school, hear from teachers and other guest speakers, learn about volunteer opportunities, and to ask any questions. However, you are not required to go to meetings, even if you join the PTA.
