Welcome to the Timber Lane Elementary PTA

The Timber Lane Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is an incredible group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the needs of Timber Lane teachers, staff, and students. Volunteering with the PTA is a great way to invest in your school community, develop deeper connections, and establish a trusted network of parent support.

Your involvement can take many shapes; whether it’s supporting teachers in the classroom, helping fundraise, or sharing your time and expertise. Your support can help our school community thrive!

By joining the PTA, you help us meet our school's needs that are outside the scope of their budget

Membership for families is $15 a year. Teacher memberships are $10.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH GLASS GOAT RECYCLING

We are excited to announce a new partnership with Glass Goat Recycling! Glass Goat recycling is a curbside glass recycling program that comes to pick up your glass every other week.

Sam Ross, a student at Falls Church high school, started Glass Goat Recycling in an effort to make it easy and simple for people to responsibly recycle their glass since Fairfax County no longer picks up glass at the curb. Glass Goat is owned and operated entirely by hard-working teens.

Best of all, now - when you sign up for glass recycling service with Glass Goat, they will donate $20 to TLES for every new customer. Sign up here, and be sure to use the referral code: TIMBER20

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • If I join the PTA, do I have to volunteer my time?

Volunteering is not required! You can join and pay dues simply to support our activities. Volunteering isn't required to be a part of the PTA. And if you want to volunteer, but aren't a dues-paying PTA member, that's okay too!

  • If I join the PTA, do I have to go to PTA meetings?

Meetings are 100% optional! We love when parents join us at PTA meetings. It's a great way to learn about what's happening at school, hear from teachers and other guest speakers, learn about volunteer opportunities, and to ask any questions. However, you are not required to go to meetings, even if you join the PTA.

  • Can I sponsor a friend or teacher's PTA membership?

Yes! Sponsoring a friend or teacher's membership is easy. Simply email their name and email to membership@timberlanepta.com. We will contact them to let them know they have been sponsored and confirm they would like to be a member. Once they have confirmed membership we will contact you with payment information so others can join at no cost.

here's what the pta has been up to

Thanks to the continued support from parents and families, the PTA has been able to surprise teachers and staff with special appreciation days. In November we helped stock the teachers lounge with goodies, and in January we set up a hot cocoa bar, complete with marshmallows, whipped cream and sweet treats to welcome teachers to work on a snowy day.

On Tuesday November 7th, we hosted our second annual Election Day Bake Sale. We received hundreds of donated baked goods from families and monetary donations that helped us buy and bake even more. Volunteers helped make signs, donated their time to collect donations, poured cups of coffee, and spent countless hours wrapping up goodies and dropping them off for distribution. The results were outstanding; we raised $1,697 in one day!

MOVIE NIGHT

It was a packed room this year for our annual Family Movie Night! Families enjoyed popcorn, candy, and pizza while watching Shrek. Students and parents dressed up in costume and raffle prizes included a variety of yummy treats and fun toys, games and books. The PTA also raised over $100 to contribute toward future family fun events. We are so glad you joined us!

GARDEN CLEAN UP DAY

On Saturday, September 30, we hosted a fall garden cleanup event at the school. Volunteers worked hard weeding, planting, mulching and more. The TLES grounds are looking in tip top shape thanks to their hard work!

FIRST PTA MEETING

Right before this year's Back to School Night, we hosted our first PTA meeting of the year. We're so grateful to the many families who came out and packed the room. We had over 40 PTA members in attendance. Most exciting news of the night? We are working hard to bring after school enrichment back to TLES! You can view the complete meeting slides here

WELCOME BACK BREAKFAST

On Monday August, 14th the PTA hosted a welcome back breakfast for teachers and staff at Timber Lane. We loved seeing the room full of hugs and high fives as teachers gathered back together for the first time this school year. Thank you to the parents and families who donated in support of this event, and our community sponsors Harris Teeter and Safeway. It's going to be a great year!

2nd annual community ice cream social

Thanks to all the families, teachers, and staff who came out to celebrate the new school year with us at the 2nd Annual PTA-hosted Community Ice Cream Social. It was a great way to start the year and we appreciated all of the teachers, staff, and families that came out to celebrate with us.
